Roland Goff Elmore Jr., 87, of Spartanburg, SC died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Summit Hills. Born March 19, 1934 in Bishopville, SC, he was the son of the late Roland Goff Elmore Sr. and Johnsie Smith Elmore. A U. S. Army Veteran during the Korean War, Mr. Elmore retired from Milliken and Company after over 30 years of service in Sales and Fabric Design. He later bought "Fabric and Yarn Associates" which he owned and operated for a number of years. An avid golfer, Mr. Elmore was a member of Spartanburg Country Club, and the VFW Post in Inman. He loved to travel abroad for many years after retirement. A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Mr. Elmore loved his Lord and family. Affectionately known as "RoRo" to his family, survivors include his wife, Carolyn Dillard Elmore; sister, Jean Smith of James Island, SC; sisters-in-law, Georgia Elmore, Faye Dickson and Michele Dillard; brother-in-law, William Dillard; nieces, Josie Elmore, Lynn Mizell, Kelly Dickson, Ashley Thomas and Chelsea Marino, and nephews, Steve Smith, Joey Dillard, and Brian Dillard. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Carroll Elmore; sister-in-law, Linda Dillard, and brothers-in-law, George Smith, Ned Dillard, Alvin Dickson, and Wesley Dillard. Funeral services with military rites by American Legion Post #28, will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. John L. Warren Jr. Visitation will follow the service in the Chapel. Masks and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post #28, PO Box 391, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
