Roger Richards

Roger Dale Richards, 72, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at his home. Born January 11, 1946 in Big Bend, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Sheridan and Eula Hosey Richards and the husband of Cheryl Lee Bittler Richards. Roger was a US Army Veteran, and worked as a designer for American Greeting Cards. He was a member of Norman Ridge Methodist Church and the VFW for several years. He was active in several classic car clubs. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Richards, a daughter, Tonya Richards of Indiana, a son, Edward Richards (Renee) of Spartanburg, stepdaughters, Paula Minch of Ohio and Diane Heil (Ron) of Florida, a stepson, Robert P. Zimmer (Laura) of Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Richards (Joanne) of Piedmont, SC and Kenneth Richards (Tracey) of Simpsonville, SC; along with many nieces and nephews and his dog, DJ. He was also predeceased by sisters, Doris Richards Lanzo, Carol Richards Hovey, Joann Richards Dawson, a brother, Donald Richards, and a dog, Bullet Baby. A funeral service will be 4:00 PM Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306, conducted by The Rev. David Frost. Visitation will follow the service in the chapel. Burial will follow in Norman Ridge Church Cemetery in Grantsville, WV, under the direction of Stump Funeral Home.
