Roger Hill

Roger Louis Hill, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born May 10, 1940, in South Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Melvin Christopher Hill and Helen Frances Gaye Hill. Mr. Hill was a member of Southside Baptist Church and Men's Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. He was a member and treasurer of the local chapter of The Gideons International and retired from Hoechst Celanese. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Turner Hill; son, Michael Hill (Paige) of Chowchilla, CA; grandchildren, Trevor, Tanner and Travis; sister, JoAnne Dove of Traverse City, MI; stepchildren, Ronnie Turner of Landrum, SC, Cindy Turner and Gary Turner, both of Chesnee, SC; step-grandchildren, Kyndal, Ryan, Josh, Mary, Sarah, and Laylah; step-great-grandson, Bear; and a niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beckie Kinder Hill. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Southside Baptist Church, 316 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson. The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service.
