Rodney J. Moss

Rodney J. Moss, age 78, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 7, 1946, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and was a son of the late James L. Moss, Sr. and Margaret Johnston Moss.

Rodney graduated from York High School and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina. He started his career at the Internal Revenue Service, where he worked from 1968 to 1973. After that, he partnered with Reel Robertson to establish a CPA firm, Moss and Robertson. His dedication to his career and clients was evident throughout his professional life.

Outside of work, Rodney was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed playing golf. His love for sports brought joy to his life and connected him with many friends and fellow enthusiasts.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Janice Palmer Moss. He is survived by a brother, Dr. James L. Moss, III (Joanne) of Acton, Mass; nephews, James L. Moss IV (Jay), Joel Moss, Judy Moss Wright (Andrew), and Jennifer Moss; brother-in-laws, Lee Sellars (Cathy), Albert Sellars (Starr); sister-in-law, Joyce Palmer, Toni Linder (Ed), and Eula Bridges.

Burial will be prior to the service on January 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Rodney's funeral service will be at 3:00 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29307.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and a love for the simple pleasures in life. Rodney will be missed by all who knew him.
