Rodney Patrick Coggins, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at his residence. Born October 3, 1943 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Arthur Bryan and Theo Katherine Bailey Coggins.
A US Navy Vietnam veteran, Mr. Coggins was a retired painter and worked for Spartanburg County. He was a devoted husband and father. Rodney was of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing, gardening, woodworking, and working in his yard. His favorite was spending time with family and friends, and having his famous cookouts and fish fries at his shop.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Diane Coggins of the home; his children, Jason P. Coggins of Spartanburg, SC, Brandy C. Murphree (Tim) of Tryon, NC, Scott Coggins of Boiling Springs, SC, and Tammy C. Landis (Curt) of Newberg, OR; two grandchildren, Bailey Coggins and Avarie Coggins; and his sister, Linda C. Roberson (Gordon) of Greer, SC. He was also predeceased by a brother, Arthur Bryan Coggins, Jr.
A Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 18, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Chaplain David Coggins. Visitation will follow the service.
