Roberta Ornduff Bain, daughter of the late Herchel Elwood Ornduff and DeBrayda Mae Smith, was born April 23, 1941, in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She was a member of First Christian Church and graduated from Elizabethton High School before attending ETSU.

After marrying, Mrs. Bain and her family lived in Charlotte for about ten years before eventually moving to Spartanburg where she was a founding member of Westview Christian Church. For many years she was a Sunday School teacher and taught Children’s Church and VBS. She volunteered for over a decade at the Charles Lea Center working in their horticulture department. At various times, Mrs. Bain participated in the Christian Women’s Club and the Garden Club. She also helped those in need through various church endeavors that assisted with housing repairs and renovations. She enjoyed creating floral arrangements, art/craft projects, decorating the church throughout the year, attending the many sporting events in which her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren competed over the years, as well as just spending time with her family.
