Robert Worthy

Robert "Jug" Henry Worthy, 89, of Pacolet, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his home. Born June 10, 1928, in Pacolet, SC, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Hester Ninon Lovings Worthy, and husband, for 63 years, of the late Betty Ruth Hensley Worthy. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Worthy served his county for 28 years and was stationed on the USS Yellowstone. He was also retired from the S.C. National Guard. After his military service, Jug worked at Kohler Co. as a Caster, from which he retired after 32 years. Mr. Worthy was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church. He was formerly a Deacon and Sunday School Director. He was also a former member of the Pacolet Ruritan. A man dedicated to God, who loved his family, country, and friends. His passion was golf with his special golf partners. Surviving are daughters, Joan Loftis (Sid) and Rhonda Johnson; son, Jeff Worthy; grandchildren, Tyler Loftis (Elizabeth), Kristen Loftis, Ben Johnson (Kaylee), Clayton Worthy (Jamie), and Kyle Worthy (Olivia); great-grandchildren, Robert Loftis, Sarah Loftis, Devyn Johnson, Madyson Johnson, Chandler Grey Worthy, and Rileigh Worthy; nephew, Max Redd (Shaomin); and great-niece, Shira Redd, brother, Doyle (Colonel) Worthy (Jenelle); sister, Audrey Gilmer; special friend, Betty Forrester; friends and caregivers, Marilyn, Sandra, Bob and Robbie. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by a grandson, Will Johnson, three brothers, and six sisters. The family would like to give a special thank you for visits and support from Nancy and Woot's, Billy Ogle, Burl Fleming, and the "OWLS." Thank you to Bruce Cook and his staff at Compassus Hospice for the love and care you showed our father and family will never be forgotten. We would like to thank our family and friends for all the visits, love, and support shown to Robert and his family during his illness. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Monday, November 27, 2017, in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372, conducted by the Rev. Norman Band and Mr. Bob "Whitey" Owens, with military rites. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
