Robert Wood

Robert "Bob" Jones Wood, 82, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Skylyn Place Health Center. Born April 25, 1928, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late William Alfred and Mellie Jones Wood and husband of the late Elizabeth "Lib" Crow Wood. A graduate of Pacolet High School, Bob was also a member of Fernwood Baptist Church where he served as head usher, as well as, secretary for all Sunday School classes. He was a veteran of the United States Army, retired after 26 years of service with the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation, and was a member of the Spartanburg Evening Lions Club. Survivors include nephews, Steven A. Wood and Michael D. Wood. He was predeceased by his brother, James Alfred Wood and nephew, James A. Wood, Jr. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Monday, February 21, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dean Allen. Burial will be in West Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fernwood Baptist Church, 200 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
