Robert Edward Wilkins, 87, of Pacolet, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at RoseCrest. Born October 7, 1922, in Pacolet, SC, he was the son of the late John Laxton and Lillie Mae Lee Wilkins and the husband of the late Vernie T. Wilkins. A graduate of Pacolet High School, he was the retired owner of Wilkins Service Station and Used Cars in Pacolet. He was a member of Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Bobby L. Wilkins and wife Becky of Spartanburg; a granddaughter, Robin Allen of Inman; a grandson, Lee Wilkins and wife Lana of Inman; a great-grandson, Bryce Wilkins of Inman; two brothers, Charles "Dickie" Wilkins of Pacolet, and William A. "Bill" Wilkins of Spartanburg; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Homer Brown of Inman; and a special friend, Otis Smith of Pacolet. He was predeceased by two sisters, Pearlie Mae Phillips and Margie Wilkins; and two brothers, J. W. Wilkins and John Earl Wilkins. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Kelly Lee Gallamore. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family is at the home of his son, Bobby Wilkins, 14 Amy Court, Spartanburg.
