Robert Widener, Sr.

Robert L. Widener, Sr., 91, died Friday, March 4, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born July 2, 1924 in Erwin, TN, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Mary Evelyn Dance Widener. He was the widower of Jacqueline Beverly Widener. Mr. Widener was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was a retired supervisor with Daimler Trucks North America. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason. Robert was a member of the Scottish Rites in Charlotte, NC and Pomona Lodge #246 AFM in Pomona, CA. Robert was an avid fisherman. He loved his wife and family. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Widener, Jr. (Beverly) of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, David Andrew Widener (Claire) of Suffern, NY; Zachary Daniel Burrell of Stanley, NC; and Robert Matthew Brown of Duncan, SC; and great grandsons, Jaxon Widener and Vinny Demaio of Suffern, NY.
