Robert Anthony Taylor, 76, of Spartanburg, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at White Oak Estates. Born April 4, 1935, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Roscoe Arthur and Dora Pearson Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a U. S. Army veteran, a member of Morningside Baptist Church, a longtime member of The Creek Golf Club, and retired from Arkwright Mills. He was an avid fast-pitch softball player and a member of The South Carolina Fast Pitch Hall of Fame. Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Martha Henderson Taylor; daughters, Glynda Taylor Hines (Dale) and Kim Taylor Wyatt and Tommy Brashears, all of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Brandon Ryne and Taylor Edwin Hines, Amber Suzanne and Summer Marie Wyatt; sisters, Sheila Taylor Atchley of Glenn Spring and Becky Taylor Sellars of Pauline; and brother, Stanley Eugene Taylor of Duncan. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
