Robert Shoupe

Robert L. "Bob" Shoupe, 88, of 3855 Maid Marion Lane, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 31, 1923 in Kinard, FL, he was the son of the late Jennings Bryan and Sadie Daniel Shoupe. Mr. Shoupe retired in 1987 from Colonial Pipe Line Company after 45 years of service. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Royal Sunday School Class, a former deacon, a Sunday School teacher for many years, and served in many offices in the church. He was a former member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church. He was a member of Red Bank Masonic Lodge # 717 in Chattanooga, TN, the Croft Ruritan Club, a volunteer with Mobile Meals Service, Total Ministries, and a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Jackson Shoupe; a son, Gary Lee Shoupe of Greenville; a daughter, Connie Shoupe Eaton and her husband, the Rev. Charles M. Eaton of Pauline; two grandchildren, Susan McLaurin Moulder and husband Brian of Anderson and Daniel Lancaster Eaton of Pauline; two great-grandchildren, Larsen and Rayna Moulder. He was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie S. Davis and Edna Erle Shockley; and a brother, J. B. Shoupe, Jr. Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the Welcome Center of Morningside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Mike McGee. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary Escort will be members of the Royal Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
