Robert Sherbert

Robert Vernon "R. V." Sherbert, 94, of 3023 N. Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at his home. Born June 3, 1917, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Robert Edward and Arrie Parham Sherbert. Mr. Sherbert was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a cartographer for the U. S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employee's (NARFE), and a member of Roebuck Baptist Church. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Carmen Eleanor Thomas Sherbert; daughters, Patricia Huckeba and husband Dan of Roebuck, and Laverne Jackson and husband Frank of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Anna and Ben Huckeba, Christina and Jeremiah Jackson, and Lindsay Baker. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Friday, November 4, 2011, at Roebuck Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3:00 PM, in the church, conducted by Dr. Tim Williams and the Rev. Ondra Black. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Pauline. Memorials may be made to Roebuck Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 490, Roebuck, SC 29376; Hospice Care of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
