Robert Putman

Robert Dean Putman, 92, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his home. Born November 24, 1928 in Spartanburg, SC he was the son of the late Elijah and Zena Sawyer Putman and husband of the late Mattie Sue Lytle Putman. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Putman was a retired Spartanburg City Fireman and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Connie Bearden of York, SC and Carol P. Beacham of Texas City, TX; grandson, Robert Atkinson of Seneca, SC; granddaughters, Adriane Bearden of Spartanburg, SC and Melinda Atkinson of Seneca, SC; great-granddaughter, Savannah Atkinson of Seneca, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers, Broadus Putman and James Fred Putman; sister, Edna P. Bogan and son-in-law, Clayton Zeigler Bearden. Graveside services were held Monday, January 4, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by The Rev. Keith Davis.
