Robert Portillo

Robert "Rob" Charles Portillo, 48, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at his home. Born April 12, 1966, in Butte, MT, he was the son of Dennis Jasper Abeyta (Darlene) of Helen, MT and Sherryl Marie Melby Hollomon of Crestview, FL. A 20 year veteran of the U. S. Marines, Mr. Portillo served in Desert Storm and Afghanistan. He was a devoted Marine who loved his family, football, and NASCAR, was a fine chef, and was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Heather Dillard Portillo; maternal grandmother, Viola Gabrian of Spokane, WA; paternal grandmother, Juana Murphy of Green Valley, AZ; sons, Jordan Portillo of Gaffney, SC and Nicholas Dillard of the home; sisters, Teresa Chappelle (Bubba) of Crestview, FL, and Michele Hoffart (Corey) of Helena, MT; brothers, Dennis Portillo (Lorie), Mark Portillo (Robbin), Brian Portillo, and Paul Portillo (Lynn), all of Rock Springs, WY, Paul Portillo (Lynn) of Pinedale, WY, and Danny Abeyta of Helena, MT. He was predeceased by a sister, Terri Lynn Abeyeta Cates; adopted father, Manuel Portillo; maternal grandfather, Frank Melby; and paternal grandfather, Jose Abeyta. The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Golightly United Methodist Church, 2000 Hwy 56, Spartanburg, SC 29302, with the Rev. Dr. Louis D. Jamison officiating.
