Robert M. Pierce, Sr., 81, of 260 Redwood Avenue, died Monday, July 12, 2010 at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia. Born September 23, 1928 in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Lester Lee and Bessie Horne Pierce. He retired from American Hoechst Corporation and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where he was a former Man of the Year, a Sunday school teacher, President of the United Methodist Men, a trustee, a missionary, and other church activities. He loved his God, wife and family, church, and many friends. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eunice Mildredge Lee Pierce of Spartanburg; two sons, Craig Pierce and wife Deborah of Chapin and Max Pierce and wife Amanda of West Columbia; a daughter, Robin Pierce Kendrick and husband Michael of Mayo; grandchildren, Cameron, Cole, and Wells Pierce; a sister, Nannie Faye Ellison of Spartanburg; friends and loved ones, Ping & Betty Toney, Coleen Smith, Mickie Pedigrew, Yvone Littlefield; and special family friend, Judy Rogers. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest Pierce and Foy Pierce; and two sisters, Billie Minesol and Burnice McClure. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert M. Wofford. Burial will be private.
