Robert Alfred Moore, Sr.

Robert Alfred Moore, Sr. 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 18, 2024, at his home. He was born on August 19, 1944, in Spartanburg, a son of the late R. Allen and Elizabeth Lewis Moore. 

He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, Spartanburg Junior College and Wofford College. He retired from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department in 2009, where he served for thirty-two years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and an active Sunday School member. 

Survivors include his wife, Joy Foster Moore; a son, Robert A. Moore Jr., (Tracey) of Boiling Springs; three daughters, Angela Cumbee (Jim) of Fort Worth, TX, Sally Schubeck (Matt) of Boiling Springs and Katherine Brewer (Joey) of Columbia, SC; one stepson, Mark L. Smith (Catherine) of Spartanburg; twelve grandchildren, Hunter Lee (Brooklyn), Rachel Cumbee, Caroline Cumbee, David Cumbee, James Moore (Courtney), John Moore, David Moore, Mary Alice Moore, Annalee Brewer, Charlotte Brewer, Kara Balassone (Michael) and Kristin Neff (Randy); three great grandchildren, Olivia Lee, Hazel Balassone and Emersyn Neff; one brother, Peter A. Moore of Spartanburg, SC. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 am at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 Noon in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Brian Redding and the Rev. Sal Barone.
