Robert Gregory Miller, 97, of Pauline, SC passed from earthly life to Eternal Life on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at his home. Born September 7, 1924 in Pauline, SC, he was the son of the late Albert Frank and Lois Gregory Miller and was the husband of the late Patricia Godfrey Miller.
A US Army-Air Force WWII veteran, Mr. Miller served as a medic in the Philippines. He was retired from Duke Power in 1984 after 33 years of service. After retiring, Mr. Miller volunteered with Mobile Meals for many years. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was a faithful member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and Legacy Fellowship Group. In 2013, he was named Deacon Emeritus. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 of Spartanburg and participated in the 2018 Honor Flight to Washington, DC. He was a farmer who practiced the virtue of patience in his tending of the land, in raising his livestock, and in loving his family, neighbors, and friends. Deeply kind and true to his word, Mr. Miller was respected by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son, Gregg Miller (Linda) of Pauline, SC, his daughter, Diane Miller Smith (Stanley) of Jonesville, son-in-law Carroll Owings of Pauline; grandchildren, Frank Miller (Kara), Mark Miller (Emily), Kyle Owings (Ashley), Kurt Owings (Sarah), great grandchildren, Bristol Miller, Quinn Miller, Grady Miller, Murray Miller, Russell Miller, Hampton Owings, Miller Owings, and William Owings. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Janna Miller, and two brothers, Franklin Miller and Maynard Miller.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, conducted by The Rev. Kiah Graves and The Rev. Jimmie Farmer. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, 3119 SC-56, Pauline, SC 29374. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 AM in the church Fellowship Hall.
The heart of the Robert Miller Family has been touched by the compassionate caregivers from Comfort Keepers and SRHS Hospice. They are not only skilled in their professions, but they are gifted with loving gentleness.
