Robert Lawson

Robert Elvin Lawson, 85, of Pauline, died Sunday, January 15, 2012, at his home. Born July 17, 1926, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Robert Clyde and Bonnie Nichols Lawson. Mr. Lawson was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer with Lawson Farm, Inc. Survivors include his loving wife Lena Sue Palmer Lawson; daughters, Darlene VanCleave and husband Don of West Columbia, and Theresa Marro and husband John of Walnut Grove; son, Steve Lawson and wife Mary Frances of Elko, SC; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Susan Lawson of Pauline; sister, Jewel Moore and husband Richard of Walnut Grove; brothers, Walter Lawson of Walnut Grove, and Wendell Lawson and wife Diane of Gaffney. He was predeceased by a son, Dale Lawson; sisters, Joye Vise and Delores Layton; and brothers, John, Weldon, Donnie "Pete", and Cullen Lawson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in Philadelphia Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joshua C. Jennings and the Rev. Charles M. Eaton. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow in the Family Life Center. Honorary escort is Mr. Lawson's caregivers and employees of Lawson Farm, Inc. Pallbearers are John Sellars, Frank A. Hayes, Marion Finch, Clarence May, Alan Harvey, Otis Hembree, Mike Quinn, and Steve Calicutt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church Family Life Center, PO Box 220, Pauline, SC 29374. The family would like to thank Ruthie, Jackie, Marie, Junior, Chavis, and Thomas for their love and compassionate care given to our family. The family is at the home.
