Robert S. Knighten, 84, of 107 Phillips Circle, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 26, 2010, at White Oak Manor in Spartanburg, SC. Born February 25, 1926 in Rock Hill, SC, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruby Wright Knighten. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of Pacolet Mills Church of God, where he was a frequent soloist. He retired from Arkwright Mill, Cateswood Division. Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He is survived by his wife, Eunice "Kat" Knighten, his daughter, Dianne K. Neidlinger, of the home; grandsons, Robert Neidlinger and Phillip Neidlinger and wife Shana, all of Spartanburg; great grandchildren, PJ, Lucas and Grace Neidlinger and Lindsey Neidlinger all of Spartanburg; two brothers, Lewis Knighten of Interlachen, FL and Dennis Knighten of Asheboro, NC; and a sister, Naomi K. Nixon of Asheboro, NC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Homer Knighten, Frankie Knighten, and Allen Knighten; and two sisters, Dorothy K. Caldwell and Evelyn K. Davis. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 P.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation, conducted by the Rev.
