Robert Jones

Robert "Bob" Elmer Jones, 90, of Myrtle Beach, SC, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born November 28, 1925, in Clyde, NC, he was the son of the late Samuel Wayne and Edna Faye Baldwin Jones. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and graduate of USC, Mr. Jones retired as Regional Manager with Southern Bell Telephone throughout South Carolina. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach where he served as a Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers, a former Rotarian, a member of Toastmasters, as well as a Mason and Shriner. Survivors include his son, Samuel Jones and wife Patricia of Brandon, FL; grandson, Phoenix Parks; sister, Mildred Hudgins of Laguna Woods, CA; brother, Charles W. Jones of Spartanburg, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friend, Jeannie Thompson of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn Grimsley Jones and second wife, Corinne Jones; sisters, Earleene Davis and Freda Nadine Turbyfill; and brothers, Finnis Wayne Jones and Allen David Jones. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A cryptside service will follow at 4:00 PM conducted by the Rev. Michael Stubblefield.
