Robert Putman

Robert Hugh Putman "Putt", 66, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Mary Black Hospital. Born January 23, 1947, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Grady Jackson and Elizabeth Cannon Putman. Mr. Putman was retired after 33 years of service as a police officer with the City of Spartanburg. He was a member of Converse Baptist Church. Survivors include his beloved wife, JoAn Putman; sons, Chris Putman of Greenville, SC, and Kevin Putman (Dawn) of Taylors, SC; daughter, Dana Etheredge (Sam) of Spartanburg, SC; stepdaughter, Tammy Crocker (Scott) of Cowpens, SC; stepson, Gene Jordan of Spartanburg, SC; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sister, Peggy Holloway of Boiling Springs, SC; niece, Kim Black (Eddie); nephew, Tim Holloway (Dana); 4 great-nieces; 1 great-nephew; 1 great-great-niece; and 1 great-great-nephew. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Travis S. Putman. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Mike Davis and the Rev. Benny Greene. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
