Robert Hight, Jr.

Robert A. Hight, Jr., 81, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a long illness. He was the son of Robert A. Hight, Sr. and Pauline Roberts Hight. He was born in Hancock County Georgia on April 22, 1930. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Willaminta Norris Hight,; daughter, Deborah Harris and her husband Ray, their two sons, Richard and Justin of Spartanburg; son, Richard Hight and his wife Cindy of Spartanburg; son, David Hight and his wife Karen and their two children, Ryan and Kelci, of Raleigh, NC; and daughter, Jennifer Jennings and her husband Chris and their two sons, Grant and Matt, of Greenville; and his sister, Dot Cummings of Columbus GA. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Don Hight. Bob retired after 37 years with W. R. Grace Cryovac Division and Grace Distribution. He began his career as a salesman and held numerous positions including Executive Vice President when he retired in 1992. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master's Degree in Soil Chemistry. He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corp Division at Fort McClelland, AL. Bob was an avid hunter and enjoyed raising cattle upon his retirement. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 21, 2011 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, conducted by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand and Dr. Jim Harrison.
