Robert Gantt

Robert Henry Gantt, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at his home. Born June 21, 1922, in Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Maggie McSwain Gantt, and husband of the late Thelma Elizabeth Cornwell Gantt. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Gantt was retired from Ingles and A&P grocery. He was a member of River Hills Baptist Church and American Legion Post #28. Survivors include his daughters, Sheila Barnwell (Richard) of Bat Cave, NC, Ilene Sanders (Steve) of Kings Mountain, NC, Robin Dobyns (Roy) of Boone, NC, and Susan Gantt of the home; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 PM Thursday, February 27, 2014, at River Hills Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Kent Smith and the Rev. Roy Dobyns. Burial with military rites by American Legion Post #28, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to River Hills Baptist Church, 5762 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369. The family is at the home.
