Robert Engley, Jr.

Robert Earns Engley, Jr., 69, of Chesnee, SC, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born December 15, 1952, in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Earns Engley, Sr., and Margaret Sackett Engley.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served in The Vietnam Era, serving two years stateside and one year in Korea. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from USC-Spartanburg.

Robert was retired, having worked at TNS Mills as a supervisor. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He loved playing the guitar and writing songs; one of his favorites was titled “Getting Older.”

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Marie Kimbrell Engley of the home; their sons, Dr. Robert Christian Engley of Brookline, MA, and James Caleb Engley (Amanda) of Boiling Springs, SC; two grandchildren, Tyler Engley and Kaitlyn Engley; a niece, Marsha Miller (Larry) of Taunton, MA; and his “chosen” son, Jason Baize of Spartanburg, SC. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Paula Engley Wolff.

Visitation will be 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2022, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral service will be at 12:00 noon, at the chapel.
