Robert Edward Cason, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Eden Terrace Assisted Living. Born September 9, 1928, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Clifton Grady and Alma Estelle Shutley Cason. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Cason was retired from Southern Railroad and a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church. He was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, a ham radio operator, and member of the Spartanburg Amateur Radio Club. Among survivors are his sons, Clifton Walker Cason (Kathryn) of Chesnee, SC, and David Lee Cason, of Yaxley, England; grandchildren, William Cason and James Cason, both of Yaxley, England, Thomas Lee Cason (Jade) of Charleston, SC, Hannah Michaela Cason of Chesnee, SC; great-granddaughter, Jasmine Marie Cason of Charleston, SC; niece and nephews, Cavin Cole of Carrollton, GA, Janice Cole and Rickey Moore, both of Spartanburg, SC; and great-niece, Regina Alwine (Mark) of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Georgia Alma Cason and Martha Jane Cason Moore. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, August 29, 2014, in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Steven H. Rhodes. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 438 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Boy Scouts of America Palmetto Council, 420 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family is at the home of his son, Clifton W. Cason in Chesnee.
