Robert Bungarz

Robert Charles Bungarz, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Summit Hills. Born May 18, 1920, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Frances Maurer Bungarz. A U. S. Army veteran who served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and received the Purple Heart, Mr. Bungarz retired from Abraham-Straus in Brooklyn, NY in 1982. He was of the Episcopal faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn Marshall Bungarz; son, Dr. William Robert Bungarz (Beverly) of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Barbara Frances Onnink (Johan) of Kirkland WA, four grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Bungarz, of New York, NY, Rebecca Ann Bungarz of Spartanburg, SC, Christopher Onnink of Kirkland, WA, Jennifer Robinson (Andrew) of Abilene, TX; and great granddaughter, Abigail Robinson. A memorial service will be conducted at The Episcopal Church of the Advent on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM by the Rev. J. Edward Morris and the Rev. Stephen Y. McGehee. The family will receive friends in the Parrish and Community Life Center following the service.
