Rilla Harris

Rilla M. Harris, 86, formerly of Ozona, FL and currently of 2701 Gravel Springs Road in Buford, GA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Born in Gaffney, SC on May 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Hoyle Henry and Ida Poole Harris of Spartanburg. Mrs. Harris was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and homemaker with an enthusiastic love for flower gardening. Having grown up in the Beaumont Baptist Church, she attended a number of Baptist churches during her years of living in various states along the east coast. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, John Floyd Harris in February 2009. She is survived by daughter, Judy Ward and husband Buddy of Buford, GA; sons, Joel Harris and wife Christine of Raleigh, NC, Phillip Harris and wife Julie of Roebuck, SC, and Jeffrey Harris of Palm Harbor, FL; daughter, Jonna Schultz of Trinity, FL; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Yvonne Wright of Chesnee, SC; sisters-in-law, Grace Harris and Bessie Harris, both of Spartanburg, and Lora Switzer and husband Charles of Roebuck, SC; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Coyle (wife Catherine), Hoyle, and James Oliver Harris. The family will receive visitors from 12:30-1:45 PM Friday, August 26, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Spartanburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 575 Old Norcross Road, Suite J, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
