Riley O'Neill Casey, 92, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born on February 12, 1921 in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Oliver Riley and Julia Metcalf Casey. A longtime resident of Enoree, SC, he retired from Reeves Brothers and was formerly employed with Abney Mills, was a graduate of Wofford College where he was a member of the baseball team, and had a career playing Textile League baseball. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was a longtime member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church in Enoree. One of his greatest joys was sharing special time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Watson Casey; his son, Chuck Casey and his wife, Becky, of Moore; his grandchildren, Helen Williams and her husband, Todd, of Moore, Kristina Casey of Moore, and Brian Casey and his wife, Kate, of Richmond, VA; his great-grandchildren, Jesse and Hart Williams; and his sister, Jean Brittian and her husband, Tom, of Myrtle Beach, SC. Mr. Casey was predeceased by his siblings, Billy, John and Dan Casey and Alice Culbreth; and his two half-brothers, Blease and Roy Casey. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Brittain and Rev. Jan Brittain. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with honors provided by the United States Navy.
