Richard “Bodie” Eugene Thomas, 80, of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, January 20, 2021 at his home. Born August 13, 1941 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Wesley Smith and Lois Vivian Seay Thomas.
Bodie was retired from Metromont Materials after 43 years of service. He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and Lone Oak Masonic Lodge #372 and was a Shriner.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Patsy Nelson Thomas, his children, Rodney Eugene Thomas of Beaufort, SC, Susan Gregory (Robbie) of Moore, SC, and Robert Dale Thomas (Jilian) of Spartanbrg, SC; grandchildren, Robert Gregory, Thomas Gregory, Hunter Thomas (Julia) and Ashton Thomas; and his siblings, Jimmy Thomas of Tennessee, Frances Campsen of Spartanburg, SC, Brenda Garrett of Pacolet, SC, Janice Brown of Tennessee, and Sherry Reid of Campobello, SC. He was also predeceased by siblings, Dean Thomas, Allene Lark, Jack Thomas, Buddy Thomas, Jerry Thomas, and Carolyn Matthews.
Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Graveside service with Masonic Rites will be 11:30 AM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Robert Emory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville Shriners Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
