Richard Smith, Sr.

Richard Allan "Rick" Smith, Sr., 68, of Greer, SC, died Sunday, December 28, 2014, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born November 11, 1946, in Bayonne, NJ, he was the son of the late William F. Smith and Adele E. Piltz Smith. Mr. Smith was the retired owner of Dick Smith Distributing Company and of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Belinda Diane Quinn Smith; daughter, Amanda Dianne Smith; son, Richard A. "Spike" Smith, Jr.; sisters, Elaine C. Carter (Maury), Karen A. McPherson and Lois D. Edmunds; brother, William E. Smith; four nieces; three nephews; six great-nephews; four great-nieces; and his Golden Retriever, Eli. Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 PM on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, with funeral services following at 2:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by Chaplain Matthew Eddleman and Mr. Nelson "Tex" Stuart. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681. The family will be at the home.
