Richard Floyd Olson, 89, passed away April 17, 2022. Born May 3, 1932, in Chicago, IL to the late Obert Edwin and Viola Wolfgram Olson, he was married to Nora Quinn Olson of the home.
A veteran of the United Stated Army, Richard served in the Korean War. After his service, he attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. Richard became a mechanical engineer, founder and President of Applied Technology of Spartanburg. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and President of the Paul Morris Sunday School Class.
Survivors include daughters, Julia Olson Childers McClure (Steve) of Laurens, SC, Rebecca Olson Fairey (Joe) of St. Matthews, SC, and Beth Olson Richardson (Tom) of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Katherine Fairey Reeves (Bart) of Charlotte, NC, William Franklin Childers, Jr. (Carolyn) of Greenville, SC, Joseph Koger Fairey, IV (Addie) of Columbia, SC, and Jennifer Childers Looney (Chris) of Nashville, TN; eight great- grandchildren; step-children, Rhonda Quinn Roberts (Dale) of Spartanburg, SC and Donald Quinn, Jr. (Dianne) of Irmo, SC; a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Patricia Olson Schneider of Winona, MN, Laurence Evan Olson (Linda) of La Crescent, MN, and Sylvia Olson Marin of Grove Beach, CA.
Visitation will be 12:30 - 1:45 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. A funeral service will follow in the church, conducted by The Rev. Michelle Dellinger Cockcroft. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Honorary escort will be The Paul Morris Sunday School Class.
