Richard Lamar Greene, 67, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at his home. Born December 19, 1944, in Tampa, FL, he was the son of the late James Ollie and Marjorie Whatley Bunch Greene. Mr. Greene was a former co-owner of Spartan Tire Exchange and worked in construction for a number of years. He was past-president of Spartanburg Evening Lions Club and won the Clemson Calhoun Track MVP Award in 1967. Surviving are his loving wife Beth Greene; daughters, Rebecca Jones and husband Joey of Spartanburg, and Mollie Pelletier and husband Will of Greenville; grandchildren, William, Amelia, Henri, and Lillian Pelletier, and Erin, Nathan, Daniel, and Rachel Jones; and brother, Carlton Greene and wife Karen of Greer. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM, in the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. A. Stephen Holler. Entombment will be in Trinity United Methodist Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
