Richard Gill

Richard Alfred Gill, 87, of Spartanburg died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born February 06, 1923 in Lebanon, PA, he was the son of the late Fred Alfred and Ethel Smith Gill and husband of the late Virginia Louise Stewart Gill. Mr. Gill was the retired Owner/Operator of Gill Drilling Service, and a Shriner. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines and served in World War II. Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Gill Cullen of Charlotte, NC, Diane Gill Parker and her husband Philip of Atlanta, GA, and Robin Gill Snelgrove and her husband Michael of Spartanburg, SC; a son, Douglas Gill and his wife Ann of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, John Michael Young, Scott Murph, Katherine Sims, Michael Gill, Lee Snelgrove, and Sam Snelgrove; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gaby Ketter. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by Mr. Kevin Horres. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or Park Place Assisted Living Resident Fund, 2720 Country Club Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
