Richard Derrick

Richard "Dick" Haltiwanger Derrick, 69, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, June 23, 2018. Born November 4, 1948 in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late William Edward and Edna Haltiwanger Derrick. Dick dedicated over 40 years as a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, serving both the Men's Club and the choir. He worked as a real estate agent with McDaniel Leasing Co. and although he earned a Master's degree from Appalachian State University, he was an avid Clemson fan. Survivors are a son, Reed Derrick (Mandy) of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Arabella Derrick of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Mary Henry (Jerry) of Shelby, NC; brother, William Edwin Derrick of Salley, SC; sisters-in-law, Barbara Derrick and Judy Derrick both of Charlotte, NC; and his beloved dog, "Roxy." Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by brothers, David Walter Derrick and Charles Lyman Derrick. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. John Warren. Visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church in honor of Richard Derrick for The Children's Mission.
