Richard Bruce

Richard Enoch Bruce, 79, of Drayton, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills-Landrum. Born July 5, 1932, in Cowpens, SC, he was the son of the late Jolly William and Mary Waldrop Bruce, and husband of the late Nancy Alice McGaha Bruce. Mr. Bruce was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and former employee of Dry Clean USA. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, a Lay Speaker at his church, held Sunday School at homes for shut-ins, was an Elder at Beech Street Presbyterian Church in Gaffney, and a former Boy Scout Leader of Troop 58. Surviving are his daughter, Dell Bruce Leazer and husband Johnny of Gaffney; sons, Richard Stephen Bruce and wife Delores of Inman, and Jolly William Bruce of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Lindsay Shinn and husband Harry, Richard Stephen Bruce II, Laura Cook and husband Larry, Michael Leazer and wife Brittany, and Alicia McSwain and husband Jason; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruth Barber of Clifton and Virginia Holmes of Pacolet. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2012, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Roye Lynn Kulik and Mr. Stan Goode. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356. The family is at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Richard "Steve" Bruce, 415 Watercrest Court, Inman, SC 29349.
