Richard Bragg

March 9, 1945 — April 7, 2015

Richard "Dick" Alexander Bragg, 70, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at his home after an extended illness. Born March 9, 1945 in Huntington, WV, he was the son of the late Davis Alexander Bragg Jr. and Esther Bryant Bragg. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Mr. Bragg was a metallurgical engineer. He moved to the area to work with Batcheldor-Blasius and later retired from Alcoa Fujikura Ltd. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, an avid golfer and woodworker. Special thanks to the "Lunch Bunch" (Bill Fitch, Paul Lansberry, and Luther Rickenbaker) for sharing their food and friendship, and to Pearlean Goode for her tireless commitment to his care. Surviving are his wife of nearly 46 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Glasgow Bragg; daughters, Amy Bragg Higgins (Daniel) of Cary, NC and Jessica Bragg Woodson (Tracy) of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonah Higgins and Ansley and Cullen Woodson; and sister, Janice Hogan (Pete) of Marietta, OH. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Central United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, with the Rev. Alex Stevenson and the Rev. Luther Rickenbaker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 233 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
