Richard Brady Lowry, 63, of Cross Anchor, SC, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 6, 1949, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late John David and Euna Mae Brady Lowry. Mr. Lowry was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Wofford College. He served 36 years at Leigh Fibers, was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent, a 4-year letterman and captain of The Wofford College Golf Team, served on the Board of Directors of The Country Club of Spartanburg and Musgrove Mill Golf Club, and was active in the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance and many other textile organizations. Surviving are his wife, Judy Lister Lowry; children, Richard Brady Lowry, Jr. and his wife Lindsay Johnson Lowry of Spartanburg, SC, Marchant Lowry Bley and husband George Frederick Bley of Greenwood, SC, and John David Lowry II of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Louisa and Brady Lowry of Spartanburg, SC, Lowry White of Greenwood, SC, Margaret, Isabel, and Durham Bley of Greenwood, SC; brother, John David Lowry, Jr. and wife Pat of Rock Hill, SC; sisters, Libba Lowry Brendle and husband Ralph, and Mary Lowry Dodkin and husband George, all of Spartanburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, by the Rev. Halcott R. Carter and the Rev. Robert L. Brown. Entombment will be in the Bell Tower Columbarium. Following the committal service, the family will be at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Libba and Ralph Brendle, 113 Commons Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family requests no flowers please, in lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the Richard B. Lowry Endowed Scholarship Fund, c/o Wofford College Athletic Dept., 429 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will be at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Libba and Ralph Brendle, 113 Commons Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
