Richard Glenn Bowles, 66, of 209 Cemetery Circle, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born February 21, 1945, in Winston Salem, NC, and reared in Kernersville, he was the son of the late Oscar L. and Onnie Corriher Bowles. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam era, a member of Beaver Hills Baptist Church, and an avid sports fan. He was retired from Hexion Corp. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sylvia Gossett Bowles; two sons, Eric Todd Bowles of the home, and Corey Allen Bowles of Moore; a granddaughter, Kelsey Marie Bowles; three grandsons, Elijah Jade, Hunter Blade, and Carter Allen Bowles; three brothers, James Bowles of Concord, NC, Charlie Bowles of Colorado Springs, CO, and Eugene Bowles of Papillion, NE; and three sisters, Shirley Styers of Walkertown, NC, Dorothy Powell of Kernersville, NC, and Sue Darby of Yadkinville, NC. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lester, Woody and Billy Bowles, and his sister, Betty. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. David High and the Rev. Manning Strickland.
