Richard Ventson Bennett

Richard V. Bennett, 61, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, in Urbana, IL. He was born in Spartanburg, on Thursday, May 23, 1963, to Ronald Ventson Bennett and Linda Gail Smith Bennett.

Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving 8 years as an Electrician Mate on submarines. After his time in the U.S. Navy, he worked for over 18 years with Duke Power at the Catawba Nuclear Plant, where he retired as a Nuclear Reactor Supervisor. Richard was a proud member of the American Legion - Post 33 and the American Legion Riders. One of his greatest passions was riding the open roads on his Harley, together with Nancy.

Richard is survived by the love of his life, wife, Nancy Bennett of Spartanburg; daughter, Casey Burns (Eric) of Pelzer, SC; his mother, Gail Bennett of Spartanburg; sister, Michelle Bennett Pender (Gene) of Leesburg, GA; step-daughter, Belinda Wells (Phil) of Inman, SC; step-sons, Jonnie Freeman (CJ) of Inman, SC and Bennie Freeman of Spartanburg; four grandsons, Jacob, Joshua (Kailyn) and Jared Bellinger and James Burns; four granddaughters, Lily Burns, Christine, Zoey and Haley Freeman; great granddaughter, Jasper Bellinger; a niece, a nephew and two great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC, 29307. 

Funeral service will be held, 1:00 pm, Monday, September 9, 2024, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, the Rev. Tommy Sparks will conduct services.
