Rev. Larry Ned Lancaster, 87, of Pauline, SC, died Friday, January 20, 2023 at his daughter’s home. Born September 21, 1935 in Walnut Grove, SC, he was the son of the late William Claude and Virginia Harrelson Lancaster.
Rev. Lancaster was a graduate of Candler School of Ministry. He was retired from Harley Bag Company and then Union Camp Company, and the founding Director of The Compassion House (a house for homeless, alcoholics and addicts). He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and member of The Creek Golf Club.
The last surviving member of nine children. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Barbara Ann Brown Lancaster of the home; his daughter, Kristy Lancaster (Ted Roussos) of the home; and Rocco, his canine buddy and protector.
Visitation will be 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 3119 Highway 56, Pauline, SC 29374. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. at the church, conducted by the Rev. Kevin Bishop, The Rev. Chris Snelgrove and The Rev. Kiah Graves. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Compassion House, P.O. Box 217, Pauline, SC 29374.
