Reverend Donald O'Dell

Reverend Donald Russell O’Dell, 91, Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born December 23, 1930 in Union, SC, he was the son of the late Pet Boyd and Beunia Mitchell O’Dell.

Rev. O’Dell earned his bachelor’s degree from Wofford College and his Masters of Divinity from Emory University. He retired as an United Methodist Minister, who also served at Pacolet Presbyterian Church for 17 years as Interim Pastor.

Dad was a Man of God and a true Christian Servant who was devoted to his family and had a great sense of humor. He never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Grace Seay O’Dell of the home; sons, Christopher DeWitt O’Dell (Kathy) of Central, SC, and James Russell O’Dell and Charles Wesley O’Dell (Rudi Rudisill) of Spartanburg, SC; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and his brother, Maurice O’Dell of Raleigh, NC.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Norman L. Band. Visitation following the service at graveside.
