Rev. Horace Lawrence Shipman Jr., 75, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Charles George Veterans Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Born September 14, 1936, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of Horace Lawrence Shipman Sr. and Essie Mae Sikes Shipman. Mr. Shipman was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, retired owner of H. L. Shipman Plumbing and Piping, and minister of Maranatha Church of God. He also enjoyed restoring antique cars. Surviving is his beloved wife of 52 years, Sandra Yarborough Shipman; daughters, Tamela Davis and husband Steve of N. Wilkesboro, NC, and Rhonda Holland of Fort Mill, SC; grandsons, Adam Holland, Bradley Holland, Carson Holland, and Parker Davis. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, September 7, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by Brother John Petty and Mr. Raymond Johnson. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home.
