The Reverend William R. "Bud" Pace, Sr., 86, of Cannons Campground Road, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his residence. Born May 8, 1923, in Pacolet, SC, he was the son of the late Arthur and Georgia Pace and the loving and devoted husband of Louise Fowler Pace of 65 years of marriage. He was the founder and pastor of New Hope Outreach Church, formerly We Love You Ministries of Cowpens. Serving in the ministry for over 60 years, he built and founded three churches in the Cowpens area, Faith Temple, We Love You Ministries, and New Hope Outreach. While serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a drill sergeant in the 118th infantry. He was a former police officer in Augusta, GA, and retired from the Spartanburg County Health Department after 28 years of service. He was loved and well known by the members of his community during his life. He touched thousands of lives with his kindness, love, and generosity, and was known in the community as either Uncle Bud or Papa Bud. Survivors include his daughter, Vickie Pace Powell and her husband Scotty Powell, Sr. of Cowpens; four grandchildren, Scott Powell, Jr. and his fianc Kay Thomason, Rev. Brent Powell and his wife Karen Powell, Shandel Powell Brown and her husband Derek Brown, Wayne Albergotti and his wife Stacy Albergotti; seven great-grandchildren, Bristan and Jacob Powell, Nicholas and Katlyn Brown, Tyler Powell, Noah and Avery Albergotti; two brothers-in-law, Donald Fowler and his wife Cindy of Rock Hill, and Ben Bennett of Cannons Campground; a sister-in-law, Eva Dell Pierce and her husband Buddy of Reidville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Ronald William Pace and William Rhyne Pace, Jr.; two brothers, Leroy Pace and Odean Pace; two sisters, Mary Banks and Viola Banks; and his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Shealey Fowler. Words can never describe the love that he shared with all of his family and his church family. He was a priceless treasure from God and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at New Hope Outreach Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at New Hope Outreach Church conducted by the Rev. Brent Powell who is following in the ministry of his grandfather and the Rev. Maxie Cantrell. A video tribute will be presented at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens.
