The Reverend William Richard Morgan, 85, of Chapin, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Lexington Medical Center. Born July 18, 1923, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Clyde Lawrence and Irene Mae Gordon Morgan. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Lib" S. Morgan and was first married to the late Margie Bradley Morgan. A retired minister, Rev. Morgan established Victory Baptist Church of Spartanburg and pastored there for 38 years. Throughout his years of ministry, he also served in missions work for 12 years in South Carolina, Texas, and Mexico. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville, NC. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Myran Morgan-Trask (Michael) of Lexington, SC, Regena Morgan Wells (Jim) of Pickens, and Dona Morgan (Dub Brown) of Taylors; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Clyde Morgan, Jr. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Floyd?s Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Philip Vaughn. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 Shelburne Road, Asheville, NC 28806; or to Winyah Community Hospice Care, 305 Stanridge Drive, Suite B, Columbia, SC 29210.
