Rev. Michael Philip McGaha, 61, of Pacolet, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born May 28, 1950, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Harry O. McGaha and is survived by his mother, Ruby Phillips McGaha, of Pacolet, and husband of the late Deborah Lee McGaha. Rev. McGaha was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church and retired from Hammett Grove Baptist Church after 25 years as pastor. He was a former minister of music at Tate Memorial Baptist Church. He graduated from Pacolet High School and attended Limestone College. In addition to his mother, survivors include a daughter, Bethany McGaha of the home; two sisters, Judy Kennedy and Sue Teaster, both of Pacolet; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2011 at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, by Rev. Norman L. Band, Rev. Dennis Tessnier, and Rev. David Frost. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rev. Michael P. McGaha Memorial Fund, PO Drawer 1530, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
