The Rev. Robert H. Long, 67, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born January 6, 1944, in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Rev. James and Grace Lenz Long. Rev. Long was ordained in 1979 as an Episcopal Priest and served as Vicar of Calvary Episcopal Church, Glenn Springs, and The Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Union, SC. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy, Lynchburg College, and Protestant Episcopal Seminary in Virginia. Survivors include his wife, Betty Fogleman Long; two sons, Christopher Kevin Long and his wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, and Robert Kenneth Long of Missoula, MT; two daughters, Kimberly Long Hall and her husband Allan of Macedon, NY, and Katherine M. Long of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Allan Craig Hall, II, Benjamin Tyler Hall, and Taylor Morgan Long; a sister, Margaret L. Hager of Virginia; and a brother, Jim Long. He was predeceased by a twin sister, Roberta Campbell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rt. Rev. W. Andrew Waldo, the Rev. Dr. James F. Lyon, IV, and the Rev. Frank Travis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, PO Box 549, Pauline, SC 29374.
