Rev. Ray Linville of Moore, SC died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at his daughter's home in Greenville, SC, at the age of 93. Rev. Linville is survived by his wife, Lucille M. Linville; son, Gene Linville; daughter, Peggy L. Haden; son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Linville; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Born in Erwin, TN he is predeceased by his parents, Robert Frank and Dehlia Ann Linville; his daughter, Connie Rhea Vaughan, his daughter-in-law, Rose Linville, his son-in-law, Tim E. Haden, his brother Jack Linville; his sister and brother-in-law, Rosemond and Ken Street; and his sister Rene Luttrell. Rev. Linville attended Mars Hill College and Gardner Webb Seminary. During his ministry, he served with the unfailing support of his wife of 74 years, as minister of over 19 Baptist churches. Among these were Brushy Creek, Rocky Creek, and Five Forks, in the Greeville area; Oak Grove, Westside, Poplar Springs, and Care Baptist Church, in the Spartanburg area; and Pleasant Grove in Greer, SC. Visitation from 1:00-2:45 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 790 Hwy. 417, Moore, SC 29369. Funeral services will follow at the church at 3:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ralph Carter, Evangelist John Linville, and his grandson Michael Ray Vaughan. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens.
