The Reverend Joel Lester Irvin, 87, of 118 Halibut Lane, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born December 15, 1921, in Hamilton County, IL, he was the son of the late Milt and Ersie Allen Irvin. He was a retired minister in the Church of God for 57 years and a member of Fairforest Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a Staff Sergeant at CO383 INF Regiment 96 Division. Survivors include his wife, Alice LeBuhn Irvin; a son, Daniel Irvin of Greenville; three daughters, Debbie M. Irvin Laughridge, Julie A. Irvin, and Judy T. Irvin, all of Spartanburg; a granddaughter, Amber Irvin of Greer; and a grandson, Zachary Laughridge of Spartanburg. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. John H. Petty, III. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of God International Office, Missions Fund, P. O.
