Rev. Wesley Eugene Dixon, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at his home. Born August 30, 1931, in Honea Path, SC, he was the son of the late Alvin and Annie Teague Dixon. Rev. Dixon was founder and operator of the Wesley Dixon Insurance Agency for 50 years and was also a member of the Spartanburg Lions Club. A graduate and current Board of Trustees member of Holmes Bible College, he was an ordained Pentecostal Holiness minister for over 60 years. He was the pastor and a member of Ella Crocker Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church for 38 years and also attended North Spartanburg Church of God. Survivors include two sons, Mike Dixon and his wife Chrissy of Spartanburg, SC, and Gregg Dixon and his wife Teresa of Boiling Springs, SC; a daughter, Gwen Thrift and her husband Clay of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren, Amy Wilson (Kevin), Michael Dixon (Natalie), Kelley Dixon, April Wood (Steve), Thomas Thrift, Preston Thrift, and Nick Bradley; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Coakley of Bessemer City, NC; brothers, Larry Dixon and Jerry Dixon, both of Greenwood, SC, and Bobby Dixon of Greenville, SC. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lucille Knight Dixon and his second wife, Dorothy "Jo" Evans Dixon. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Larry Flippo, the Rev. Jan King, Bishop James Leggett, and Bishop Ray Boggs. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Honorary escort will be ministers and wives of the Upper South Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
